Thanks was sick of doing black like I usually do on everything. Plus since its under the truck a regular red or silver would have been nearly invisible, this stuff picks up any hint of light. It is glossy but the flake makes it almost look textured up close. The powder is extremely thick since it is 5 coats total.
In other news just replaced the whining power steering pump only to find out it's actually the water pump making noise.
It's been whining for weeks but I've been to lazy to do proper maintenance. Picked a family member up from the ER Friday night and it was whining so bad the security guard came out to warn me my PS pump was about to fail.
Wow life is great sometimes. I was convinced the water pump was the source of the whine after I changed the PS pump and went to return the old one for a core charge. At a light I noticed the temp gauge climbing and the AC get warm. Must be the water pump then. Pulled the new water pump off my RCSB along with the 160* Thermostat and silicon rad hoses since the Tahoe rubbers were looking pretty bad. Throw it all on the Tahoe fill it up with everybody's favorite Dexcool and it whined even worse. Turns out it was the idler pulley which I have half a dozen of laying around .
Never would have thought an idler pulley would put so much stress on the belt drive that it would cause the water pump to turn slower and the ECT to rise. At least that's the theory I came up with.

my weekend woe was finally changing the steering box to make Penny an ambi-turner. last summer, she started intermittently losing power steering... but only when turning left. right turns worked perfectly. just swapped the 250k mi steering box, and all's well now.
it just took another trip to the store to buy a 15" crescent wrench that i could put a 3' pipe on to get the pitman arm nut off. reminded me of a few years ago when replacing the pitman & idler arms that i told myself i'd pay somebody else to change those next time i had to take them apart. oh well.
Talk about a frustrating week. Coming home from the range yesterday and my AC went warm. Got home and noticed the low port was leaking just a tad and had a dribble of dye bubbling out of the Valve core.
Today I replaced the valve core vacuumed the system and began to refill after I was sure it wasn't leaking. Put 1 can in and the pressures sky rocketed! Like 60 on the low side but 450 on the high side. On top of that the high port was burning hot sizzled some skin off when I touched it. I'm not an AC pro but I did pull the orface tube out and it didn't seem clogged or show any metal shavings as if the compressor was dying.
