Default 5.3 in a 86 Silverado

I have a buddy who wants to swap out a 350 for a 5.3. What are you guys using to stay fuel injected? He's thinkin about going carbed if he can't find the stuff to do it. I thought I'd ask y'all and see what options I can run by him to look at.

I'm not sure on what all is needed outside of a higher pressure pump. I'm sure some quick searches though would break down exactly what you needed. Keep the injection, you'll thank yourself later.

it would be easy if he keeps the stock trans. He would need a wiring harness, fuel pump, motor mounts, tuned computer to get started. If he keeps the stock trans it will save having to swap out the speedometer.

there's some kits out there
you can get a fuel injection kit from holley and then you swap in an in-line fuel pump (might even be in the kit)

or for a more factory approach our sponsor LSX4U has complete kits /w ECM and all

I'll Be doing the same swap on an 85 soon, and I am thinking about using the LS1 MicroSquirt kit from EFI Source. Its basic, but it will work for my project and budget.

LS1 24X modified Microsquirt V3 | EFI SourceEFI Source

denmah, over on tech has a good write up for this as well.

there are plenty of people selling factory harnesses that have been cut down on eBay or on different sites. Also there are many companies that make them from scratch that's what I bought. The harnesses for the motor only are quite a bit cheaper. I'm not sure what's the flywheel and clutch combo to make that trans work.
