I have a 2002 Silverado 1500 with a little 4.8.
All stock with 154000 miles.
It developed a little lifter tick so now I’m going to install some add ons while I’m in it to fix the current situation.
I purchased a TEXAS SPEED PERFORMANCE
CHOPACABRA CAM KIT WITH HEAD GASKETS, lifters, push rods, springs, trays, front seal, water pump gaskets. I also purchased some stainless shorty headers, cold air intake.
new rear seal, oil diverter “barbell”. Transmission filter and corvette servo. Once all of this is installed I will take it straight in to a reputable tuner for a dump tune.

Next move should be 2800rpm-3200rpm stall convertor and really deep gear in the rear . Stock height tires, 4.10s. Going up in tire diameter then 4.30s+.

 

I’d swap the shorties for long tubes.

 

I’m pretty doubtful it is lifter tick. Gen 3s don’t have that issue like the newer trucks. 4.8s don’t ever.
