The timing curves match each other, that is not good because the computer could never pull timing if it knocked. Also one should never set the minimum spark table to only 4-6 degrees less than commanded timing at full throttle. You need the computer to pull timing way back to help the transmission complete the shifts safely. I'm not saying it has to go way negative like the stock tables do but at least back to 0 degrees.

I'd honestly revert the torque mngt tables back to stock as well, no need to max out all those tables. A very very important thing with a GEN 5 is the peak torque table, that table needs to somewhat match some of the values you log in the scanner. Things like engine torque, predicted torque etc etc. Overly inflating the values in the table can cause weird issues. Being that this truck is mainly stock with just exhaust, I'd probably only bump the table 5-10% max and be watching my scanner pids to see where my numbers are and make sure they are very similar.

I find it odd that the power enrichment EQ ratio is leaner than the alcohol EQ ratio, usually it's the other way around. If going by AFR terms I am commanding 12.3-12.5 with pump gas and 12.7-12.9 with roughly E70 in my area.

The transmission tune could be way better. There are far better ways to make it shift than just smacking the shift pressure with 120psi and reducing the shift torque factor by half.

I take a far different approach with lowering the shift times to .3000s, bump shift pressure by 5-15%, adjusting the on-coming pressure presets and making adjustments to the torque converter lock up. I disabled the TCC in gears 1-4 as well.
I've seen a lot of people copy the high octane spark table to the low octane table. I've even done it myself on a race gas tune. I don't think its a bad idea to pull a few degrees out of the WOT and transition cells on the low octane table on a vehicle that sees mostly street duty.

6L80/90 tuning it a little above my ability and I never touched it on my caddy. I have an idea what I'm looking at but I don't pretend to be a guru or anything. I don't like how it commands 6th gear at low speeds. It seems like at 40ish mph it lugs around at 1200 rpm. I'd rather keep it in 5th longer.

This tune was done by a reputable shop in TX. My personal opinion is that it is just a basic tune they put together quickly and throw in every truck and charge $500. I'll adjust a few things but honestly, on this truck I'm probably way more conservative then I am on my RCSB. I've literally got two spare engines just in case anything goes wrong.

I appreciate the advice. I'll definitely datalog it and see what I can do.

Since you have HP I would recommend having Richard Wayne from Atomic Fab do some remote tuning.

Side question: What does a basic HP Tuners computer setup cost to allow remote tuning and some tuning myself? My 2014 could have some tweaking but I would also like to learn. I have a 96 that's getting a 5.3 turbo setup and it would be cool to learn how to at least build a start up tune.

It's easy to change the shift speeds and lock up speeds for the gears. I made mine so that it won't shift into 6th gear until 49-50mph.

You've got a couple options if you want to get started with HPTuners. First, the software is free. Go to their website and download it, watch some youtube videos, visit the HPTuners forum and download some tunes to play around with. Once you get an idea of what you're looking at and what the different tables do you'll have a basic grasp.

Now for buying the interface you've got a couple options. The new MVPI2 is pretty nice its $299, its bluetooth so you'll need a newer laptop to use it. The older MVPI's are still great too. I've got the pro version which lets me log a wideband but there are workarounds to logging a wideband with the standard version too. You can pick up a used one with a few credits for around $150-300.

I figured out how to adjust that last night while I was looking through the trans section. I bumped the upshift to 6th to 49mph for everythig under 25% throttle. You mentioned disabling the TCC in 1-4th gear, are you going to Trans>Torque Converter>Apply/Release and either maxing out or zeroing out the values on the apply and release tables for 1-4 gear?

Max the speeds to 318/317 in the apply/release tables for those gears.

Thanks man. I have a MacBook so I will check if HP is compatible. $299 isn't bad. I think for my turbo build I'm going to use Richard Wayne for remote tuning so being able to datalog is a must.
