However since this isn't a trailer queen I want a durable finish, otherwise I'd do just a regular clear.

The water base I've been told "pops" a lot more, but in turn the ceramic is very slightly more dull then regular clear, but not to the point where you would notice it.
Good to Know. I have heard the newer water borne basecoate's are supposed to work well. I know when they tried it long ago it failed miserably. Time will tell though.

BTW What Paint line do you use???

Hopefully it's not any worse then the factory junk I got now... clear coat is starting to wash off. I have to hand wash carefully and I dont waist time trying to make it look good any more like I used too...

FWIW I started using Glassurit. What a whole new world esspecially when it came to color matching Metallics.... I have not messed with there water borne line yet. but if it is as user freindly as the old 55 line, I am sold!!! There clear is so pure too! when we did Black mercedes the color was called triple black and it was pure black tonner right of the mixing rack... oddly enough the tonner number was 666. I never got a chance to try it but the instructor showed us a paint mule that they used for a test were the used the singlestage black from there 22 line waited for it to cure and then followed directly over it with clear. It was so deep and clean looking!!! I was uber impressed...

I was thinking the same thing! I think your truck will stand out more and all the lines of the truck will look much cleaner on that graystone metallic. But it's all opinion at this point and you get to make the pic. Either way it's gonna look awesome.
