I hope you have better luck with those valve springs than others have...

Yeah running those springs is probably an unnecessary risk lol I may swap them out for some blue gm springs at some point

A buddy of mine bought some CNC ported heads but we couldn't identify the dual spring package and the seller had no info from the place that did the porting. They looked decent and checked out so he ran them. I forgot how long they lasted but I got a call that the truck was idling at a stop light, he heard a loud pop and it started misfiring pretty bad. initial inspection, it lost compression.

Had him pull the valve covers and look for any obvious signs like bent push rod or a droped valve. He called me back and a said he found a broken outer spring as one of the valves was lower than the rest.

Turns out he had 3 broken springs. Only 1 was obvious. Fortunately for him I had purchased a BTR dual spring kit for my engine but it hadn't started my build yet. So I gave him my kit so we could get his truck running again that day. Then he bought me a new kit when It was doing my build.

That’s really not that bad for a bad scenario. I have a set of btr single springs sitting on my work bench and another set of eBay springs also I ordered for cheap. I might just say thug life and run these till they give an issue. I really like to know myself hands on what works and what doesn’t from personal experiences. I really like to learn things the hard way lol.

it snowed a bit today out in south Salem. I had to go run to pickup some random free wheels and tires off offerup. The truck is super easy and predictable to drift. It will definitely be better once I replace the g80 with a real limited slip.

installed seat heaters and new seat covers in the truck, the seat heaters are amazing. Best $40 ever spent.

im super happy with how the truck is running. I need to spend a tiny bit more time messing with some of the shift points and a few other little things but power wise I’m very happy with it, next bit of love the truck is gonna get will be in the stereo department. I have some left over 3.5” tweeters I’ll be putting in the front doors and I’d like to get all new speakers and run them off a 4 channel amp. Gotta make sure everyone hears my corridos when I’m bumping that **** lol.

Well got a new truck today. 06 Silverado z71. It’s super clean inside and and was a great deal. Needs some brakes and shocks but has some Goodyear wranglers on it with good tread and the stereo sounds great in it too. Planning to sell my grand Cherokee and have this replace it. I want to leave it mostly stock as much as I can handle but we’ll see how long that will last.

also did a few things to the 2wd Silverado. Mounted a spare, jack and jack handle. Used kayak park holders for the jack mounts and they work great.

And the two trucks together

I like that Z71. Is it by chance an L33 truck? How is equipped inside?

it has super clean cloth. Pretty sure the drivers seats been rebuilt with all new foam and fabric. It has the Bose sound system with the sub in the center console too. I didn’t realize it till you asked but it is a l33 powered truck. That’s pretty cool.

Thanks man. I’m pretty stoked I was able to pick it up and I got it for a steal too. Hoping I can leave it mostly stock and just have a good daily out of the truck for working on apartment stuff and taking the little boat out fishing.
