Default 2000 Chev RCSB Lowbuck Turbo Project - Alberta, Canada

Figured I'd start a thread here to document progress on my project truck, it's a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 5.3L V8.

So far I have fabricated a log manifold and installed a VS Racing 7875 turbo (cast version) with a VS Racing 44mm wastegate. My goal is to have it running 11.50's in the quarter this summer. Video attached.

Awesome build. Its great to see another truck being built in alberta. Im in the process of building a 2003 rcsb with a single 70mm from on3performance.
What is all done to your truck at this time? have you took it to the track yet?

Hi Jseal52,

What part of Alberta are you in? Would be nice to meet up with some other turbo truck guys come summer time.

All I have done to it so far is installed the turbo and wastegate, the next upgrades will be injectors and a fuel pump, and hopefully a cam and valve springs before the snow melts as well. Will probably need trans/convert upgrades before too long as well.

Oh and I haven't had it to a track yet but plan to take it to Central Alberta Raceways in Rimbey this summer and Castrol Raceway in Edmonton too.

I’m from northern Alberta. About 1.5 hours from Edmonton. I’m going to be running 55lb injectors with a 350 intank fuel pump. My truck is only a 4.8 though but it has the 3.73 rear gears. I’m probably going to run the trans tell she blows up. It’s going to be a learning truck. This is my first turbo truck.

Looks awesome. I grew up north of Edmonton in Barrhead but live in Sylvan Lake now. Any plans to take your truck to the track? I plan on running the 4L60 til it blows as well but want to have another trans ready when it happens.

Yep probably mid June-early July will be my first trip. Will just be running with my street tire for now to try and save the trans as long as I can. I’m hoping to get the truck into the 12’s this summer.

What are are you going with for a trans after you blow yours up?

Still undecided on the trans... leaning towards a 4L80e but also considering a TH400.

I like the idea of the TH400 but you lose OD then and living in alberta it mostly highway driving. They do have ways around that though. can get a gearvendor gear splitter.

Gearvendor are expensive though. You could do a 4l80e a lot cheaper.

Nice to see you here Randy, been following your youtube progress from very early on, left quite a few comments for you on there.
