Default 1999 nbs 5.3L to Ly6 swap

Today, I purchased a 18k ly6 complete engine that I am going to have installed in my 1999 ext. Cab Silverado with stock rims. It currently has a 5.3L 165K motor that runs great with a K&N FIPK2 and Granatelli MAF, being a 1999 truck, I decided to give it a front clip face lift to a 2004 front end back in 2005.

The tranny is a 4L60E with a Beast Sunshell Kit, Kevlar Band, 3&4 Corvette Servo. Exhaust wise I have high flow cats and Flowmaster dumped under the bed.

Between now and March I will be buying the headers, compatable TB, the 58-24 tooth reluctor converter, Yank TC(not sure which one yet) and a tru track 373 rear end. I am sure along the way there are other things that I will have to but but for now, I think that lcoation a motor is a good start. I will not be doing the engine swap, just buying the parts and having someone do that.

Once the engine swap project is done, I am having the truck painted. Currently its a Gold color thats 1/2 faded due to a shotty body shop paint job.

Default engine swap

where did you locate your new engine? don't understand some of the initials for the engines as I am still learning but is it a 6.0L engine? i have a 2000 nbs tahoe with 165000 miles on it and still runs pretty good but now that i've been to this site, it seems everyone is of the opinion to do a swap. i also want to get a 6.0L. I live in Houston and was wondering where is a good place to find used engines of this size. your plans sound really good. all the best to you.

Not sure about being able to post the information here but the person that got me the engine is named Kyle Thompson in Richardson, Tx he has several 6.0 that are stock and some are already customized. He has a shop there. PM me for his information. You can use uship.com to get the motor to you from anywhere in the in the lower 48.

you still have to put GEN III knock sensors even with that knock sensor harness. check out my 94 build im putting a gen IV in my OBS. but see no ones ever done it so no one could tell me anything about the swap. im the first one that i know of to put a Gen IV in an OBS.
pm me any questions if my thread doesnt help you.

Just a quick update on my project. I will be going with tru trac and 373 rear end. X with True duals with Bassani 4x8x16 mufflers first dumped under the bed. If i dont like the sound I will run them out the side. eta is still projected as mid march. Money does not grow on trees. I started to put pen to paper and all the mods total to about $11k with the front clip and this motor when I am done. Adds up quick.

I want to get the seats wrapped in leather as well as the headliner and new carpet. It needs a paint job but not worried about it right now. A shop thats no longer in business messed it up. The front half of my truck looks ok but from the front doors to the back and the hood, the paint is fadding and a tad lighter than the oem peuter color.

I saw a video of a guy here in houston with the electric cut off and it sounds awsome. Not sure if I should do that. If there is any money left over I will stash it away for a bullet proof tranny rebuild of the 4l60e if it breaks.

So far on the grounded cam specs will be .525 .525 218 228 112lsa and a 2800 stall.

Quick update, I bought the 90mm Edelbrock 3864 T/B with an adjustable air bypass, Pacesetter long tubes ceramic coated(cancelled headers) and the ev6 to ev1 plugs. Also paid for the cam and grinding. I was thinking about getting Electric cut outs but since I'll have true duals its about $400. I am thinking about a N20 kit instead but I would ahve to see where to place the bottle. I dont want it in the bed.

I also ordered 2 bassani 4x8x16 mufflers. They had a sale and got both for 160 total. Half off of what they were last week. Ofset in ofset out are still high though at 160 each.

Default Interior upgrade

This upgrade won't make my truck go faster but it will make the interior look better. i ordered OEM leather seat covers.
