Yes it’s ugly. Yes it’s my first patch. Yes it’s in a pia area to fix. But it’s getting there. Going to finish tacking it in today and then seam seal and put the new carpet in it. This thing is about to go to daily driver status for a bit as the wife’s Durango is in the shop for a fuel pump and wheel bearing and front end work so she’s driving my tundra.

Looks beautiful to me.

How many miles on the Durango? I thought we finally eclipsed those days of needing a fuel pump every 5 years in vehicles lol

90k miles. It's 8yrs old and is just a daily driver. I'm a bit concerned on the longevity of this vehicle. In 2021 I had a new rear main seal installed, 2024 a new driveshaft and a new fuel pump and wheel bearing. Thankfully the rear main and driveshaft were covered under the Carmax warranty. I'm hoping the fuel pump and bearing is to. But that's some fairly large repairs to have done inside of 90k miles. I bought it with 48k in 2021.

Also, got the patch finished and seam sealed Sunday and got the carpet unrolled. My wrist got jacked doing all the stuff on this and the blazer this weekend so it'll be another couple of days before I can start reassembling the interior.

Classic Chrysler moment there.

How many miles will this 4-Runner see while being your daily do you think?

This is my 4th dodge and the first one to give me these kinds of issues. I'm not counting self induced issues. Can't blame Dodge for those.

Considering I work full time remote and the only places I go are the gym and my son's daycare, maybe 18 this week.

That is what I figured lol

I have never owned any Chrysler/Stellantis/Fiat product in my life. My dad just sold his 2013(?) Wrangler though. The only thing I remember him complaining about was the evap codes.

Started the carpet replacement. Kinda aggravating but kinda gratifying at the same time. Bought the kit from Auto Custom Carpets. Made in the USA. Fits good and plenty of extra for trimming and fitting.

I just read through 13 pages…

first, your a damn good friend to mark. Sorry that he passed before y’all got to enjoy it .

second, what a cool rig! It would be hard to sell it but it’s to nice to do any hardcore wheeling. But it would make a neat overlander and do that long overlanding trail all the way to big bend

It would be cool but I just don’t have the energy, time, and money to put into a third project. This needs to go to someone who can really give it the love and attention it deserves. Who can appreciate the sentiment. I’m really hoping his niece or dad or ex wife (they were very close) buys it back.

Couple trim pieces and it’s done. Reached out to the family tonight to see if they are interested in it.
