Are the 6.0s that bad?
I am looking to sale my truck and get into a diesel and I was kicking the idea around of a F250 or 350 with the 6.0 since they are newer and seem to me to look the best. Like maybe a HD model or something similar. Another reason is that the Fords come with SFA and are super easy to lift. I know there have been issues with some of these trucks but are they as bad as people say or is some of it internet folklore? I would only lift the truck and do an exhaust, intake, and tune with those mods would I be ok? I love GM I have owned 30 or so but the HD Fords look nice and are a good bit cheaper than the Chevy of the same year and mileage. Plus finding a Chevy/GMC like I want seems to be impossible and the Fords are easier to find. Also what about a Dodge mega cab 2500/3500 with the Cummings 4wd? Thanks for the help and guideance

Lots of changes with the 6.0's... Injectors, High pressure pumps EGR coolers all are junk...At least you could keep the old 7.3 on the road if you had a spare ICP sensor, regulator, cam sensor, and a injector or two

i would steer away from a 6.0...i know lots of landscapers that have them and more often than not, they are in the shop..
if you want the new look...do what this guy did and swap the nose over

they aren't that bad. 90 percent of 6.0 problems are owner neglet. your average 6.0 that is kept maintained and NOT modified will hardly ever give any problems(yes there are exceptions to the rule here). there were many design changes on lots of parts but by the time the 05 and up design was out they were fine. the only common problem with the newer ones is the stc fitting on the high pressure pump. now take one and overload it, chip it, don't change the oil or fuel filters and you have a HEAP.

I can tell you after talking to several locals, avoid them like a plague. They are simple not worth the constant trouble. You are looking for something to mod, the 6.0L won't tolerate much of anything at all.
I had a neighbor that was big into diesel performance, the guy was a die hard cummins fan. I played with him in his single cab long bed one day, I lost bad. I have seen several pulling trucks he has built, and I can say this, nothing else in the class compares to his trucks, no matter the make. I am pretty sure he knows what he is doing, just ask the guy that drove the pulling sled that now has whip lash.
