It all depends on your set up and how big of a shot you're going to use. I think some guys have gotten away with 50 shots on a stock tune and stock motor.

I have a 4.8L with bolt ons and a LS6 cam and a basic dyno tune I'm gonna get a Nelson performance tune later on but I wonder if I could get away with a 100 shot before the Nelson tune

all depends on how much timing is in your tune
too much timing and it will ping and detonate

100 shot is too much to be safe IMO

Contact who did your tune. I had a custom tune by Blackbear and asked him about running a 100 shot with no changes. He said that would be fine but as insurance he wanted me to run 110 octane to have a safety net.

I would be more worried about the zex kit you are about to install then 100 shot with no tune adjustments. Zex isn't a very good kit and there is a reason you constantly see people talk about nitrous outlet, and other far superior and usually lower cost options.

The sponsors of this forum are all great companies to deal with. People talk highly of them not because they are sponsors but because they actualy take care of there customers and sell a great product at a damn good price.

You shouldn't have any problem hitting your car with a 100 shot.

I would definitely get a tune being that you are going to be advanced in timing. You will want to start with taking out about 4 degrees of timing.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask!
