Default Nitrous Noob

I have a 04 silverado ccsb z71 @110k miles. Running the 5.3L and 3.73's. With that many miles can I safely do a nitrous set-up. I definately want to do a wet shot, and want it to be as safe and easy on my tranny as possible. Any suggestions tips, or ideas? Just enlighten me, I dont **** about Nitrous.

The trans is the weak link. You'll want to 'beef' it up a little with a shift kit and servos. There is no # at which you shouldn't do it.

trans will probably go without mods to it. some go out with all stock and as many miles as you have

I wouldn't bother with the shift kit and servo. The tranny is going to go either way...no way to get around the trans except getting a built one. So, why not save that money you spend for the shift kit, servo, and install towards a performance built trans? Not spraying through the shifts will help your trans last longer though. Just make sure you have the funds to get a trans BUILT. Also, make sure you have a custom tune and tr6 spark plugs to go along with the nitrous. Good luck and check out the one of the sponsors on the right for the nitrous kits.

Ya I already have vette and billet od servos, I think I'm just gonna wait for my tranny to go out, then get a nice Nitrous set-up with a built tranny, Yall are right I could put a nice shot on my truck for fairly affordable, but then i have to plan and have the money for a tranny, which i dont so....Thanks for you guys helps, i got the right answer (the one I expected and didnt want to hear)

Hey, don't get me wrong, you can spray a relatively consrvative shot on you trans (125 or less) for a WHILE before it goes...just DON'T spray through the shifts. Will the nitrous make your trans go out faster? Yes, but it is going to go out anyway and you need to be more prepared so if spraying nitrous, running a charger setup, or pushing out some decent hp n/a.
FWIW, I am running 90k miles on my bone stock trans with 80% tq management removed, line pressure JACKED, and it has seen it's far share of bottles...still running like a charm.

If I were you, I would get the nitrous and keep it to a small 75/100 shot, while starting to put funds away for a built trans. Keep it to a conservative shot and it should last you a while (has for me).

Good luck on what you decide to do.
