timing is key to everything as long as you are not detenating. look at 2500s with a 6.0. in the tune it is commanded to run 14.68 at wot with very low timing. Ive also seen a video on lnnovates site a few years ago preaching the same thing on boosted motors.

 

Timing is power!! And leaning an engine out, also gives you power!! Fuel is power and for cooling effects. The more fuel the cooler the pistons and the safer (to a point) it is on the engine. Im just saying I would rather run a cooler performing engine by way of more fuel, with more timing and therefor more power. Than a hotter engine (from the leaner condition) which is prone to an increased detenation probability!!! Im not saying that you can't run nitrous at high 13's or in the 14's. Just saying the likely hood of something bad happening is much higher; like a change in air density!!! My two cents

 

im not sayin running nitrous at 13s or 14s. i was leading to how gm runs so lean at wot and the motor still lives with the right timing. still i have no clue why that is done on the 6.0s.

 

well after reading up on this i tryed it today with the 175 shot and i picked up 3 tenths 3 mph i went from the best of a 7.80 at 87 with a 1.72 60' to a 7.59 at 89.93 with a 1.65 no knock on either run and 22 degrees of timing afr around 12.6 to 12.8.

 

WOW thats quite an improvement. What afr were you running before?

 

11.7 to 11.9 sometimes a little lower up in the rpms.
