Default biggest shot w/out changing timing?

Hey guys,
I plan on installing a NE proton plus kit on my 2003 silverado 5.3.
The truck has a ASA cam and 3200 converter. Other than that all stock.

What is the biggest shot I can do without tuning? I will be running vp110 when I spray. It's my DD and I'll just spray on friday nights every once and awhile. 125, 150?

Also, I just put new plugs in the truck. Do I have to run different plugs? If I do, can I use those plugs for everyday driving? How long will they last?

Cant wait to spray

Thanks
Taylor

im not sure but i would have to say spraying 125-150 with no tune is pushing your luck. im sure a colder plug would help some. something like maybe a ngk br6ef and for everyday driving it might be a little difference

I assume you have a custom tune. If so ask your tuner and that is your best answer.

I can tell you I had an aggressive mail order tune and blackbear told me that it wouldn't be a problem to run a 100 shot as long as I was running 110 in the tank while spraying. I never had an issue and ran 8-10 bottles in it.

Sweet, yeah I'll be up there today so I'll see what he says. He's a nitrous guy anyway.
Thanks

I would start on 100hp and pull the plugs to see where the timing mark is, from that point you can determine if you can spray more. i wouldn't just throw 125-150 at it and hope for the best, start small and work your way up while looking at plugs.

Thats surprising to me...

I tried the Diablo tune on my 6.2 and it had massive amounts of very audible knock... So bad that I took the tune out and haven't put it back in.

No way I could have run nitrous on top of it...

Wow!!!! Thats strange... I have had no issues with the diablo tune and running the NOS, my AFR's are ok. No knock. Pulled my plugs and they look a tad rich, and a lottle hot. Those are my stock plugs though. I ordered cooler plugs. May have to adjust fuel some in the tune. I dont think I would feel comfortable using this setup over 150 hp.

If your going to do things, do them right, specially since its your daily driver.
If your going to run a 100 shot have your tuner put 24-25 degrees timing in it. If you wanna spray 150 shot have him put 22-23 degrees in it. A tr6 plug will be fine on a 100 shot, 150 shot run either a br6ef or br7ef plug. Tune it to 12.6-12.8 afr..
