THX for the welcome guys! I have a set of 2007 factory tahoe/avalanche 20s that I will be puting on here shortly. ( Not trying to get too flashy, I like the "factory" look)

Ok so let me ask ya guys this... With only having exhaust and CAI can I go cam next then program?

If no what next?

If ya got the money get a converter and a cam done at the same time. If not get a higher stall rated converter then cam/springs. Or best bet would be to save your money and just get a 6.0 instead of messin with a 4.8

I have thought about just doing a 6.0, but the only thing holding me back fom that is that then not only do I have to shell out for a new motor, what 2,000? and then another 1,000? to have it put in? Then I would have to beef up the tranny? Another 3,000 to do that and a stall? I am new to all this so excuse my ignorance if the price #'s I am talking about are way off. I just feel like It will cost me tons of $$$$ to go to a reliable 6.0...

You can get a tranny that is built fine and it will cost you 1500. You can find a perfectly good 6.0 for around 1000-1500. The more you look around the better chance you have of finding a good price(obviously).

As far as doing the swap. If you know anybody that has any mechanical skills then you can do the motor swap yourself. Some would say it's easier to do an engine swap than a cam swap.

Here's what you're looking at:

Motor-$1200
Tranny-$1500

or
Cam/springs/pushrods-$600
Converter- $500
Built tranny-$1500

Either way it'll cost you the same amount and the 6.0 will be much better for future modifications.

i payed $1600 for a LS1 wit a MS3 cam, hardend push rods, titanium springs, double roll time chain, slp oil pump and the motor has 40k miles on it, keep in mind this is a long block, no intake manifold, oil pan, wiring harness, etc.... still not bad though considering all my 4.8 stuff will bolt up

as far as the tranny goes, im doin a cooler, servo, stall, finned pan, and a shift kit and that will probably run me bout $700-800

then of course the tune afterwards

one thing i can not stress enough to you though is BE PATIENT!!!!! lol
