Two doors, eight cylinders, one turbo!

Put in a good 6 or 7 hours of work today. Got some more stuff in the mail. Was able to pull out everything super clean and keep the motor and trans together with the wiring harness all in tact to sell or maybe for another project. This is my first time pulling a motor and I think the Silverado is a really easy truck to pull, which is awesome. Here’s a couple pics. Next step is a deep clean of the engine bay and interior. I have some leftover POR15 that I’m going to put on the frame while the bed is off.

Got a couple hours in today!! Not a whole lot done. Still too cold to turn the water system on at the property where the truck is parked, so I’ll be towing the truck into town to the car wash for a deep clean on the engine bay before I start putting everything together. Pulled a bunch more stuff out. I’ll be running the battery and the methanol tank back to the bed and in a toolbox that I have back there. I’m going to scoot the fuse box back and under the black fender support to clean up the engine bay. Cant wait to get all OCD and wire this baby up!

Got a break in the snow and was able to make it out the shop. Pulled the truck out and gave it a good pressure wash. Cleaned up the frame and the engine bay. Started routing all of the fuel system.
Anyone use POR15? Gonna paint the frame with it this weekend.

Finally got a day to finish up the motor... and I only ordered one head gasket. Waiting another week for an LS9 and some other pieces. Got some poly urethane mounts from atomic fab and performance coming as that will be all that’s needed to drop in the motor. On an unrelated note: since my truck no longer really qualifies as a truck, I picked up this unbelievably clean diesel from a buddy. Should be a good way to tow all my crap around. Kind of funny that this truck is the opposite from my Chevy in almost every single way. Lol. Huron speed says I’m still waiting til early June for the turbo kit.

Got both heads on and a few other things bolted on today on a quick trip to the shop. Pulled the wheels to swap the tires over to the new wheels showing up tomorrow.
QUESTION:
with the assembled short block, plus cam and oil pump, it takes about 65 ft/lb to get the motor spinning, “unstuck” from there it takes about 45 lb to continually spin it. Spins totally smooth without any noises. Does that seem about right? Feels right but also my first time doing this
