Default New TX Chevy...

Hello All,

I got a new Chevy truck a few months ago and am interested in improving performance. I'm not very mechanically inclined so any help is appreciated.

I've got an extended cab Chevy Silverado 1500 w/4.8l ...

Where would you recommend I start?

Thanks!!!

well for starters, i would go to the classified section and see if there is anybody selling one for cheap. buy it. most cai give you about the same amount of gains. or you could try and build one instead of paying 250+ for a pre-built one. there was one that a member built himself that was really nice. he relocated the maf midway through the intake tube bringing it closer to the tb. it was an open filter too which i see a lot of members using.

Welcome to the site. To improve performance you should start with a CAI and an exhaust. For the CAI you should look at K&N's and I'm partial to the Volant.

MAC has nice intakes for relatively inexpensinve. I have a granatelli that works well. Built your exhaust according to what mods you are planning in the future. ex. dont go buy headers if you want to do a turbo because you will have to change them most likely. and if you are planning on any type of forced induction, the more free-flowing the exhaust, the better it is.
