Default New from Mississippi rcsb cam question

I have a 99 rcsb Silverado with a bone stock 4.8. Long tubes and exhaust. I'm tossed up between btr stage 3 and 4 truck cams. It currently has 3.42 gears Will not pull a trailer just looking to build a fun driver. Any insight with cam and converter would be appreciated.

The stage 4 is too big.

Stage 3 is big but if you had more gear or a stall it’d help out a lot.

As for stall, the CircleD 3200 HP model is well liked and proven.

Also think about this,

After you spend all that money on the 4.8, cam, springs, pushrods, gaskets, etc you could just about get an lq4/lq9 for a little more and walk circles around the 4.8.

Just food for thought.

I agree with the above.

If you're dead set on a camshaft, I'd look into the 212/218 size or whatever the stage 3 is with a stall converter.

Don't forget you will need/want larger injectors if they are stock.

I have considered ditching the 4.8 just hate to waste a good running engine so I'm going to see what i can do with it but I'm sure it will have a 6.0 before its said and done.

I've been leaning towards the stage 3 just wasnt sold on it completely. I have new lifters springs and injectors to go in when I do the cam and converter
