Default New member, long time lurker. Some questions.

Name's Dave. Some background that will be relevant to my questions: I have owned two 2012 sierras before, one was a 5.3 with TSP 228/228 cam, 2,800 circle D, Kooks LT's, Airraid MIT/drop in, 355rwhp. Other was 6.2 with TSP VVT-3, 3,000 yank, ARH LT's, K&N CAI, 415rwhp. Both had 33" tires.

I'm not the type to lower anything, but I'm also not the type to do a big lift. Just a 1.5-2" level. I like having a fast truck but never go to the track.

I went a few years without a truck and recently got a 1990 c1500, RCLB with a TBI 4.3 in it. It has very little rust. One day I plan on finding a LQ4/4L80E combo for it.

1. I'd hate for this to be looked at as "one of those threads", but with a 6.0, and STOCK CONVERTER (no room for convincing me of getting a stall), I am curious as to how much cam is too much. I don't expect the world. My 228/228 cam in my 5.3 was fine imo with a 2800 verter. For the 6.0 and stock verter, I know a 212/218 is fine and a 228 is a bit much. I am wondering how a 220 would be. How bad would the idle be trying to push through the brakes at stoplights? Anyone with experience and advice, comments welcome. I am looking for power across the band up till 6000, I want more top end than a 212/218 would deliver, and don't want the loss in low end a 228 would yield.

2. In the meantime, is there anything I can do to maximize my mpg's on this v6? I realize my options are limited. I am not bad right now at 17mpg average, but I feel I could get more. How restrictive is the stock exhaust/muffler?

There are ZERO tuning options, correct?

I have stock 235/75/15's.

Thank you all for taking the time to look at what are arguably stupid and annoying questions.
