Hello everyone I just purchased a 2000 GMC Reg Cab Swb with the 4.8 rebuilt engine with paperwork for $3500! I am not new to working on cars I have had a few DSMs I have a Rb26 swapped 300zx and I also have a 73 Camaro. I bout this truck because I need one mostly (got figure) and because I have a fresh rebuilt garret GT4088R ball bearing turbo, a bran new TIAL 55mm BOV a 60MM precision WG and a 450 walbro e85 fuel pump and I am thinking why not build a muscle truck! With the other supporting mods studs, head gasket, cam (unknown), valve springs, push rods ect.
Guess that shows my plans on the truck also to go with it I want to get rid of the jump seat for a center column, go lower thinking a 3/5 drop 5/7 seems too low for a drag/ street truck set up wheel and tire change 17" wheels more likely with a good set of radials!
Now for the opinions!
Trans-
I am trying to decide between swapping out the 60e after blow it off for a 80e or maybe do a 6 speed swap, I know that a auto is better for drags and I would still tow a car with it occasionally but the 6 speed would be more fun for "daily"
Cam-
I want a super aggressive sounding cam but I don't want to sacrifice power for sound! Any suggestions on good aggressive turbo cams
Wheel/ Tire/ Drop-
3/5 drop? 17" wheels? Plenty of rubber on the ground?
Think that covers it for this time Let me know if you have any other suggestions!
