New guy. Have a few questions.

Hey everyone. I’ve browsed this site for a while prior to joining, and decided to finally join. I’ve tried searching for the answers to my questions, but haven’t had any real luck since most seem to go away from DBW. So I apologize if it’s been covered. I have a 2005 Silverado RCSB, 2wd M/T that started life with a 4.3. I’ve swapped in a 2004 LM7 and I’ve got a question about the throttle pedal. I found the under hood harness that plugs into the TAC from the body harness (not the engine harness) but can’t for the life of me find where it comes in through the firewall under the dash. Is it taped up somewhere I’m not seeing? Also, does the DBW pedal mount with the same holes that the DBC pedal uses? And lastly, where does the TAC module mount? I can’t seem to find any holes or studs that line up with the mounting holes on the module. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

The TAC module mounts to a stud beside the brake booster. I'm guessing the harness goes through the grommet above the booster on the opposite side judging by the length of the TAC harness. Here are some random pics I scrounged up when I did my V6 to V8 swap. I eventually went with a DBC setup. The DBC accelerator pedal is mounted to this large steel brace under the steering column. Below is a members post in the GEN III V6 to V8 swap thread explaining how he went from a DBC to DBW pedal.

I ran in to the same problem. I cut my gas pedal off and used two self tapping sheet metal screws to mount the new dbw pedal and two tack welds just to be safe. I have not had any problems in 15 months and drive it every day. The only other option pull the column and that big metal bracket. I was not willing to do that especially the truck was sitting there at idle. I was ready to test drive it.

You can see the difference in the V6 and V8 pedal mounting brackets. Part 22 in the first photo and part 8 in the last photo.

The TAC is mounted above the clutch slave cylinder right under the black fender brace. If you look there are three studs holding the TAC module. Looking through the different accelerator schematics for a 2005 GMT-800 equipped with a V8 (V6 has no tac) it shows only two different TAC module mounts. Part 26 is "cruise control bracket" which the TAC module also controls. 26 looks like an adapter for the TAC to me... probably a hard to find part. Might have to use some ingenuity mounting the TAC if you need that extra part. The part number for 26 is 15080779.

Awesome. I’ll check again but I swear I don’t have those mounting studs. Maybe I missed them. I appreciate the pics.
Is this a dead forum or what? I’ve been kinda browsing around and posted a few things, and there sure doesn’t seem to be much activity....

This is more a performance orientated forum. Things will pickup when drag racing season gets ramped up unless COVID-19 shuts down the tracks. If so we'll see more street racing... "every young man feels the need to let the badger loose now and then." -John Wayne
