New to the GM World lol

Hi guys,
I've been looking for some help with a project me and my dad are working on. We've been scouting Copart and some wrecked car auctions for some GM model cars such as Camaro, Corvettes GTO's and Firebird, but there seem to be not to many of them down here in Miami that are wrecked or salvageable in order to gut the engine out of them, plus some other parts that we need.
My dad and I bought an already started project: 1969 Firebird with some work done. They had done a complete floor replacement up to the trunk and the wheel arches and some other panels as well. They included some trims and all the interior parts. Needless to say the car is in its bare bones right now.
I little bit about myself, I am a college student and my dad owns a shop. He's always wanted a classic American car and we found the Firebird. We've put some money into it, like tubular control arms, some good slotted disc brakes and some other little stuff because of time and money, but the build will continue never the less.
....
Back to the point,
We've been looking at a 2008 Escalade l92 6.2L to get the engine out of... But my dad has some concerns since its going to be our first motor swap we do into an old car.
Here are some floating questions:
-Is this engine a good option?
-Will the tranny be a good option or should we go to a manual? how much in cost?
-Will we be able to use the original wiring for the Firebird that is coming off the Escalade?
-Does the wiring for the motor have to do with any of the wiring of the actual Escalade such as any kill switch, On star, and other stuff you guys might know that will cause problems?
- ^ Do we need a new harness or what do we need to do to make the Escalade wiring work?
-Suggestions on what to look out for on these engines?
I know some stuff about these engines but not much, I am more of a Japanese Market enthusiast and don't get me wrong I admire Muscle car and all that good American Muscle stuff but I just like JDM stuff since I have more knowledge.
I currently drive an 05 Legacy GT 2.5 5 speed, it's my daily driver and ilove every sound it makes.
I'm looking fwd to completing the Firebird project for my dads in a couple of years, with any help I can get.
Thanks for your help!

IDK if it would be possible to use the stock escalade transmission since its coming along with the car, and its a 6 speed I believe. We don't mind adapting it into the firebird. Also the harness come along for the tranny as well therefore it would work, we would just have to see what signal goes to the speedo, rpm and all that good stuff. What do you think? is it a good option?

Hi everyone! My name is Jim and I came to this site to broaden my horizons concerning the 1999-2006 silverado. I have an 03 Reg cab swb with 4.8/auto combo. It's lowered 2/4and has 20s . I'm looking for interior options and mild performance advise. I hope to hang around a long time and look forward to all input. Thanks!
