Hello from Racine, WI.
Been visiting this forum for a while now, this forum has helped me more then i can guess now. I have a 2001 silverado Z71 w/273k miles and it runs like a top, when im driving it! The last month or so its been not wanting to start so easily like it used to. When its a cold start it starts fine, but when i come back to start after a grocery run or something similar, it doesnt want to start so easily and in the last week or so there has ocasionally been a white puff coming out of the exhaust when it starts like this. Clears up after ten seconds or so. Ive tried running hp tuners thinking that might give me an idea but nothing to report. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome, thanks in advance.
Oh btw i have a ls3 sitting on an engine stand in the garage, and if this s10 turns out to be as clean as it looks on craigslist ill have a fun 5 speed with nitrous. looking forward to sharing my build with you all

I'd check the fuel pressure regulator for hard starts, they are pretty common to fail. If you prime the fuel system and remove the vacuum line and some fuel spills out, the regulator is bad.
The white smoke could also be coolant getting in the cylinders, your trucks may have the castech cylinder heads that can be a problem.

Okay ive checked the fuel regulator, removed the vacuum line and no spillage. Primed it three times just to be sure.
Thanks for the info FFDP, ill be looking into what heads i have and post what i find out.

Well it seems as tho it has fixed itself, after fooling with the fuel regulater priming the fuel pump it started hard once or twice. but after those couple times it hasnt done it since to this day, lol. I baught a fuel pump. I guess ill store it for when the fuel pump in it does crap out on me.
Thanks guy
