hey guys, im new, ive got a 2001 silverado reg cab short bed with a 4.8, bone stock . i just got the trck so thts y i havnt done anything yet. but im looking for about 4-450hp out of this truck when im done probubly more.... any suggestions on where to start.

That's a grand number for a little 4.8 but possible if you have the right $$$
Start with good bolt-ons, CAintake, headers, and exhaust. That should be an easy $1300-1500. Cam, would be good. Of course you'll need to beef up that tranny...etc...etc...

Although, I'm more inclined to go turbo. Either way, all he mentioned with some type of forced induction and it can happen.

 

welcome, do you plan on keeping the 4.8? if so will it stay stock on the bottom end?

wanna drop it, get a grille, cowl hood, exhaust, roll pan, rims, and i would like to eventually bore it 30 over and get a cam, new pistons, heads and a supercharger... i was thinking about an ls1 but changed my mind cuz i just wants some nice power for a while and then once outa college and more on my feet ill get a new truck and really do it rt. ....but well see....
