Default Howdy from Texas

I saw the link to this forum at the LS1 Tech forums

I am replacing the 5.3 in my Sierra 1500 Z-71 with a 6.0 and was wondering if the exhaust would be OK ..... there is very little said about exhaust in engine swaps.

Anyway, looks like a very nice forum!

Exhaust as far as manifolds? or exhaust meaning catalytic converters and back? Either way the LR4, LM7, LQ4 and LQ9 have the exact same dimensions roughly and use the same exhaust manifolds depending if you have EGR or not. It's a pretty straight forward swap.

I knew the manifolds were the same ..... but it looks like the 2500 has bigger pipe, but maybe not. I do know they sound different and my 2500 company truck with the 6.0 runs a lot better.

I ended up with an 04 Escalade engine .... hope it helps my big tire 4x4 pull my boat.
I have decided to leave the exhaust as is and have the computer tuned to the 6.0 specs.
