when i was looking on some BBC forums awhile back everybody was saying to just get a bigger blower and you dont need to intercool the intake charge, they were referring to roots blowers - 6-71, 8-71, etc. - but it still doesnt make sense to me

I Think It Has To Do With The Fact That The Blower Might Not Get As Hot If The Casing Is So Big Its Not Working Hard..... Maybe?!

Pretty cool. Yeah, carburators suck. Old junk that you can't make any power with.
With carburation an intercooler isn't as necessary as with fuel injection due to the cooling of the air as the fuel is vaporized in the intake. There is not much gain generally with a carburated foreced induction application with intercooled vs non intercooled. At least not nearly as much of a concern to have an intercooler as there is with fuel injecion.
