Stock A6's with a good converter have been mid 9's. You could buy Circle D's Baddest A6 for less than what a gear vendors will cost. Than you gotta buy a built th400..

My personal tune is in a DD Vette that goes 9.80's on motor. I just tuned the trans.. A6 ain't know joke and Clutch on Clutch is the ticket. Most shops don't understand how they work, so their tuning doesn't work. My Denali would BARK ALL 4 24's when hitting 3rd gear. Trans was still perfect 57K miles later when the motor caught fire...

why are you all looking into th400s???
A factory 80e is holding 500hp. A well built unit can hold what you all are pushing easy.
I would much rather have an electronic transmission with overdrive.

Isn't Stock48 doing 9's on an 80E out of a junkyard, with a shift kit? I might be missing something, since I just jumped in on the last page of this thread.

Price a GV and a built 400, plus the converter and driveshaft. That A6 is looking like Goodwill prices and the parasitic loss will be next to nothing compared to the GV/400 setup.. A6 has infinite adjustability too. Get the Billet shafts in the A6 and you are looking at Lockup capability too. Good for 1/2 second drop with no HP level change. I charge 7500K to 9K for a built 48re or Allison, so 5K isn't too bad.

NOPE, CTS-V will give you a run for your money on weight. Bone stock A6's running low 10's right now. No converter change. Do some serious research. Call Circle D. You will be surprised.

I'm with devil, if it were me I would stick with the 6l80e and have the unit beefed up. I think with a converter and trans tuning you shouldn't see any bogging between shifts. Its only shifting 1 more time then any other transmission that your thinking about using.

There is probably something with the shifter and linkage / column that keeps you shifter from going down into the 1 2 3 positions. That would be something you'd have to try and work out.
