Default LQ9 has arrived

Picked up an lq9 that came out of an 03 SS from the loading dock today that I purchased from a member here. I got her safely home, lifted out out of the bed and set'er softly on the ground in my garage. I also purchased with it, a comp custom grind cam, specs are 220/226 556/570 114+4 and 918 springs. As soon as I upgrade my fuel system, get some bigger injectors, and better pushrods I will have it installed and tuned. Should be done in about a month and 1/2. I pulled the nitrous off of the truck last week and its gonna stay off the truck even after the swap so I will be vulnerable until the motor swap lol. My built 65E started slipping last week so I took it in to the guy that built it and found out that it was a broke band, guy didnt say much else about it, but it works fine now and didnt cost me any thing.

Nice, looks like you & I got the same plans in mind. Got my LQ9 from a 05' Escalade about 2 weeks ago.
Btw, what made you decide on that cam? I'm actually thinking about going with a reverse split duration cam. Supposely those make a good broad tq band with a stock intake and header setup.

Actually I dont know a whole lot about cams, the member I purchased it from had it in his previous setup with a blower and I might throw a radix on it next year. From what I was told and saw in a video clip, it has good driveability and a noticable lope as well. I cant wait until the new setup is up and running, I had a red lighning pace me today on the expressway for the first time ever with 12.xx chalked on the drivers window and the nitrous has been off of the 4.8 for only a week...go figure. Is your lq9 setup up and running yet?

Mines at my buddys shop getting the cam bearings replaced. The engine was shipped with no front or rear covers and the cam was left in place. Well during transit that loose cam beat the **** out of the bearings. You'd think Lingenfelter would have known better than to ship an engine like that, hell just remove the cam and place it aside.
So now I'm putting in new cam bearing in a motor with only 1,800 miles on it.
But this give me an excuse to go ahead and put Katech rod bolts and ARP main bolts in it as well since it's all torn down.

I'm doing a little cleaning up of the heads and still looking for that perfect cam.

I've got some nice pictures of it all torn down I'll post up later.

Why did you pull the rotating assembly it looks good. I would think the shop could put new cam bearings in there with the assembly still in.

I don't know if you could get to the inner bearing or not, sure didn't look like it. But I did want to double check everything and make sure there were not going to be any problems down the road. Hate to find out it had a bad bearing or something you know. Plus it was kind of dirty when I got it so they are cleaning it all up for me as well.
Gives me an excuse to beef up the lower end now rather than later, depending on what I do later down the road.

Looks good, if you got the money and time might as well beef it up while it is out. Im not gonna mess with mine at all except for hardened push rods. I might get the package from vinci, they have a rockerarm and pushrod package for 699.00 and I might do rod bolts too, so Im not sure yet. How long until your up and running?
