last deployment i went to west africa in support of africom coming online. got to surf in some cool places, cabo verde had the best water/beach by far

Nice. I volunteered for a mission to Africa, but didn't get to go

I was deployed a few times as well, I am a happy civilian now, working for the govt still though.
