My cousins husband has a ZR2 s-10.. he was wondering what he could do with it to give it some pep or where he could go to look at some exterior/interior accessories and some other upgrades...
he's said he has a hard time finding stuff particulary for the zr2 package and so am i... so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
he comes to me with tons of questions bc he doesnt really know much and he knows im the chevy man, lol. But what i dont know is if a short block 5.3 would fit in that tiny engine bay without popping out of the hood.. or w/o doing some type of firewall mods.

They got 31's on them stock so he could probably crank the t-bars a little to fit a little larger tire if he's going for that look. There are some good lifts for them but very $$$. Not really sure on gears either; the rear is fairly easy but it seems like I've heard that there isn't much for the front available. Its a pretty capable off road truck stock, just get some more aggressive tires. Tell him to go for a v8 swap; it shouldn't be too bad as there are a ton of s10's running with them.

Tell him to get a full size. I have a ZR2 and its a nice truck but it lacks in power and gas mileage. I baby my truck city driving and highway driving and still get a best of about 16mpg mixed. I wish I would have just got a full size now with a 5.3 or 6.0.
If he really wants more power the best thing to do is the normal truck modifications, Intake, exhaust, custom computer tune.

its a lot of work, new mounts, oil pan, headers, computer and harness. I'm not sure whats available to buy and what is still custom made. Not to mention the HP of a V8 may tear up the stock driveline...
