Let me ask you this question.

If the transmission is designed to hold a certain amount of fluid and that level drops, how else besides a leak is this going to happen??

Not trying to make you sound dumb but just think that through a little. It's time to get under the truck and see what is going on. Fill it back up to proper level and start checking things over. Just know that you may have damaged this transmission because you ran it low on fluid and is now slipping.

Did you check the trans fluid level when you bought the truck? It may have been low to start with. It may have taken a week of driving before parts started to break down from lack of fluid. This would be a bad situation. Once the fluid level is fixed, check to see if the slippage goes away. If it does you lucked out, but there still might be some internal damage to the transmission. Keep us posted.
