swapping in a 4.3 in 88' S10
#1
I've got a 88' S10 with a blewn up 2.5L. I'd love to just replace the motor with another 2.5L but I haven't been able to find one. i've located a recently rebuilt 4.3. So, what all is required for the swap? I'll probably go carbed to help make it simple.
-motor
-tranny
How about fuel? mechanical pump? What do I need to use a carb on the old fuel injected gas tank?

you will need to change the rear gears cause the 4cyl uses a 410
no clue on what else you will need
carb you will need to regulate the fuel or switch to a carb style electric pump and thats about it
to efi you will need the ecm and wiring harness and the 4.3 fuel pump
either one shouldnt be hard swap

to swap in a 4.3 is fairly easy you will need both the motor and tranny since the 2.5 tranny will not bolt up to the 4.3.
you will need the 4.3 motor mounts
you can use the electric fuel pump in the tank as long as you put a regulator and bypass on the fuel line
you will also need the 4.3 radiator and accesory brackets
then it is just a few wires to hook up and you sould be good to go
you don't need to change your rear end if you do it will throw you speedo out of wack unless you buy the module to change the signal.
