Question Colorado Extreme??

Just curious, I passed a Colorado on the other side of the road yesterday and it seemed to have the "Extreme" Package like the S-10 use to have. All I really saw was the badge on the door and the different bumpers. I was just curious if this was something from the factory or if it was just a kit?

basically it's a regular ZQ8 (sport suspension package) but it has a more lowered appearance due to the slightly different flare style and side skirts. It comes with 18's instead of the regular ZQ8's 17's, not to mention it also has the different front bumper that you noticed with a different foglight setup. Definately not bad looking trucks, I'd take a regular zq8 over an extreme, but that's my personal opinion.

Its an Xtreme not an extreme, and the new ones also feature some interior upgrades as well. Unless you really want an Xtreme; your better off getting a factory ZQ8 and spending the extra $2,000 to $3,000 on an exhaust and a N20 setup.

Actually, I'd go as far to say that if your looking to do it as cheap as possible from the factory, go with the base Z85 suspension with the street pack color scheme (color matched body parts instead of chrome) since when you get an xtreme or a zq8 your probably going to want to lower it some anyway, the aftermarket springs are a ton better than stock... basically your saving money one some of the suspension stuff your going to be getting rid of. Just saying that now that I know a lot more about the colorado's there's different ways I would have done things with mine. Overall I'm really happy with it... except for the 3 cylinders GM forgot to install under the hood

Why start with a stock height truck. Then add 2" drop spindles, 2" springs, pull a leaf out the back, and then throw 3" blocks on there, get new shocks, trim the bump stops, replace the steering box with one off a ZQ8, track down the sway bars, then you need tires, and why put tires on 15" wheels...you might as well have sprung for the $1,000 option and had your truck come with the ZQ8 package. Then all you need is spindles and blocks for the rear and your good to go since your not changing the supension's ability to travel.

There is a reason why ZQ8 trucks whoop *** when it comes to AutoX.

considering that most people that do autox have a different set of rims and tires I don't think that buying new rims is a concern, considering that most people buy new rims anyway. I forgot about the higher ratio box for the steering for the zq8, so you got me there, but all you really need to do is put in coils and springs in the rear, which by the way, aftermarket springs are a lot better than the stock zq8 ones. Plus I haven't really seen drop spindles for a colorado, but they do have a 3 inch lower control arm that I've heard of 2 different people bending . Yeah, you'd also have to buy a sway bar from somewhere, but if you wanna spend the extra grand on parts your gonna replace anyway, go ahead.

If your looking for a stock truck to leave alone and throw into some corners, yeah, a zq8 is good, but there's a lot more room for improvement with a z85 right now (aftermarket doesn't even recognize the zq8 yet for some reason... 2 years now)
