Default 5 cylinder 3.5L canyon ? are thay reliable

I've been reading for the past hours mostly good stuff on the engine( and truck) but everyone I know is saying it's the worst engine to come out of detroit ! I know the head is prone to valve seats wearing fast . How is the rest of the truck ?

I have the 3.7 and I drove it for about 8 months or so and got the itch for a full size again. Its a fun little ride and has been totally reliable. Gave it to the wife but I still haul stuff when I need a bed. Its been a good truck. No complaints and it'll probably be sporting an ls in the future...not getting rid of it!

I had a 2006 3.5L brand new and sold it @ 85,xxx miles without any issues whatsoever. It was my daily driver so it wasn't really babied like my other vehicles. Last year I bought an 07 Xtreme RC with the 3.7L had 140,xxx when I bought it and previously had the motor re-manufactured because of the valve issue these motors have. I daily drove it up until this april when the exact same issue happened again @ 180,xxx miles. Just my experience, but I would say if it's high mileage stay away from it unless you plan on LS swapping it. On a good note, my L33 5.3L build is coming together nicely on it now lol. Hope this helps

it depends kinda, I killed 3 5cylinders, 2 3.5's and 3.7 the 3.7 is definitely better overall.

I think I was just cursed, not sure why they hated me

but people have 200-300k miles on them without any issues as well so maybe I was the exception, they dont like boost at all.

The head problem only happened to people that drove them very slowly, seemed like the people that stretched their legs fairly regularly didn't have any problems. Rest of the truck is fine, interior a bit cheap. Seats are park benches. Upgrading to hummer H3 seats (bolt in) help it out a lot.
