Tru-Cool Max Trans Cooler 4739 & 47391 Install Kit - Brackets & Fittings & Hardware
#395
Finally had a chance to install the kit on my 2005 Tahoe last week before we drove up to Ohio from TN to get a, new to us, travel trailer. I couldn't ask for an easier install Literally took less than an hour..
I did goof, so y'all can learn from me. I didn't fully seat the transcooler line into the cooler, from the radiator. There should be a very positive click. It sounded like it clicked, but it didn't go in all the way. On my way up to Ohio, the line blew out and my truck puked 5qts of trans fluid out as quick as I saw the smoke screen and got over on the side of the interstate. Luckily, we saw it immediately and the trans never got over 125-130 degrees that it was sitting at. We were pressed for time and my wife and 3 year old were with me. So, I literally ran, barefooted because I always wear flip flops when i drive, 1.5 miles back down the interstate to the closest exit that luckily had an Advance auto. I called ahead and the store manager already had parts and fluid I needed to get everything back going when I got there. They were kind enough to drive me back up to the truck and I got everything fix and got the trans filled back up. Beyond my own issues, the cooler worked like a charm and the trans stayed nice and cool towing our 25' TT back home. Now to get all the transfluid cleaned off of the underside and back of the truck. lol.
