Hey pt family. I have a general question I would like to ask you guys for your opinion of what you guys would do. Moderators, if this is in the wrong section please move it for me as I couldn't find a general section for unrelated posts
So on to the story. Back in July I had a vehicle for sale. Sold the vehicle to a third party that was interested in purchasing it. Thing was. He had just started working and was only able to put down half. So I said I'd hold it until first snow hit and if he didn't have it gone from my property by then, that I would be scrapping it. So fast forward to about a week ago. They guy calls me and tells me he just wants his money back..issue being I had to store the vehicle for 4 plus months. What would you guys do in this situation?

If it were me, i would subtract whatever it costs to store it, and give him back 75% of whatever was left and tell them the rest is for wasting my time!! If you didnt have to pay for storage, charge $50 a day for storing it, and then the stupidity fee of 25% of whatever is leftover! Maybe im just an ******* thats been burned over that crap one too many times!!

I've done this a few times and ALWAYS state that the deposit is non-refundable and let them choose the date that they will pick it up by. This way when they show up a moth or 2 after the date that THEY SET and the vehicle has been disposed of (sold or scrapped) I'm covered. Who cares what the storage cost you as that has no bearing on the deal you made with him. Just my .02 cents.

The deal was 600. He paid me 500. Haven't been able to work in my garage for the past 5+ months because of the car. He called about a week ago and said he was coming to get it. I told him he still owed 100 bucks. He was dumbfounded because he thought it was 500. The day after that he tells me he lost his job and just wanted the money back.

So it took almost five months for him to save up $100? But he thought the total was only $500?? If that's the case what the hell was he waiting on? In my book, id give you half because he wasted your time when you could have actually sold it by now. that's my .02

250 in July. 250 in Oct. Call says he's ready to pick up. I day come get it. He never came n got it. I offered to him for 500 and he could square up with me later. Calls after Thanksgiving saying he lost his job. Doesn't want the car and just wants his money. The national average for car storage is 150. If I charge 100 a month, he's still out of money. He's now starting he doesn't want the car and is asking when he can pick up the money. This just has me being irritated.

I offered that to him as well. He said he had no way of getting it and just wants the money... I could have been scrapped it for that price and had my garage back to perform maintenance and upgrades ** cough cough supercharger**
