What would be generic in your eyes? Any reputable shop will warranty their work against engine failure if it was a mess up on their part
Generic to me would be a local mom and pop engine shop, or eBay, or someplace like Autozone. I've had one bad experience with a local engine builder that ruined my LS1 427 build. They claimed they could work with an LS motor but mentioned they don't very often, at least not anything aftermarket. One bad experience and thousands of dollars down the drain makes me hesitant to go to anyone who doesn't specialize in LS motors. Haven't had to yet, but I might soon.
