I've heard them referred to as both tensioners and guides, depending on the application.

Is it's main purpose noise reduction?
Will it fit a gen 3 block?

I bet its for DOD or VVT slack caused by turning 1/2 the engine off while running

I bet it could be removed without pulling the pump, those 2 bolts hold it in, but who knows how hard of a task it is.

Picture of it without the pump in front

I still want it. And a big lexan window in the timing cover.

There really isn't that much slack in the chain. If you can hear chain slap on the LS you have better ears than I. I guess that longtubes without cats drowns out the sound of the chain. It appers one wiper is outboard while the other is inboard.
