trying to keep this short instead of stealing this thread but i think it could be helpful to all DOD cam swaps.
Might have to start a new thread focusing just on that. All of the ones i have read so far have used the LS7 lifters.

nice to see a local guy on here.i know it's not all that mild but it was very streetable in my opinion. i would suggest a trickflow 216/220 .560/.560@114 it sounds great and performs great, i ran this cam in my 4.8 with a 3200 stall and i loved it.

ha for sure man! that actually seems quite mild for a 5.3 4 door, i think anything past 224 is to big for this truck, i dont think theres going to be any nitrous of FI on it, just a good dd that can lay down the law when it needs to be

you could be right but i happen to be a fan of smaller cams. i have a buddy with a 5.3 in his 04 tahoe and it has made consistent 14.02 sec. 1/4 mile runs. and that thing is heavy, but man is it fun to go get a loaf of bread in that thing

Ive been told these new 5.3s like the higher lift cams due to having better heads and intake from the factory. I believe there is one guy on here with a rcsb nnbs 5.3 with the tsp220 cam. Looks like it runs real good in all the videos he post up

only if the lifters are .015" shorter than stock LS1...seeing as the DOD 5.3s come with 7.385" pushrods...I've measured. you wouldn't change a lifter to get the correct preload though, you change the rods. (only non-adjustable valvetrain that the DOD engines use...the rockers have a torque value so there is no setting preload)

haha hell yeah i bet, well i know youd want to run a smaller cam on most FI cases, but that seems to be dam good for a tahoe. hah
