is the 224cam really that big of a cam? I just bought a set of "streetable "cams for my titan thru jim wolf and they are 256/256 I thought this was about the lowest anyone would want to go for racing? 224 are even smaller than my stock junk cams.. which are 236.. Really wanted some 262 cams but damn intake manifold is the size of mt.saint helen's and it'd just negate anything more of a cam i put into it..

It's a pretty big cam for the 5.3's but some guys on here have bigger ones than that in their 5.3's. Also remember too, ya'll have more CI than we do(I think).......Our trucks are only 324ci.......

The 224 duration is measured at .050" lift. Yours is probably the higher "advertised" duration, usually rated at .005" lift. The 224 probably has an advertised duration in the neighborhood of 270*.

I'm not going to pretend to know anything about your engine other than it's displacement, but are those 256/256 durations @ .050 lift? Those 224 durations for our cams are @ .050 lift, but are a lot higher when you look at other lower lift values.

Your 256 cam duration #s must be at .006 lift.

The 224 duration cam #s we use are at .050" lift

A 224 cam will have around 277 duration at .006" lift

The 256 cam, I would guess, might be around a 200-205 duration @ .050" lift

here is the link to my cams.. think they are 219 duration at .050lift..
what i really love bout these cams is they totally open up the top end of my motors power, before this after i shifted into 2nd gear at the track felt like i was going thru mollasses.. this was done on a bone stock titan.. imagine the gains on a fully modded one i can't wait

Also the dyno shows it being cut off at 5200 rpms cause that is where "stock" titans lose horrendous power cause of the ecu de-tuning on a uprev'ed truck like mine it makes power all the way to 6k before it falls off the cliff

Haha, I had to open up the comp cams lobe guide. I was just going to edit my post, but you beat me to the point with the hard numbers.
