I have just bought a camshaft from Texas speed only bought the cam itself the camshaft is a stage 3 216/220 @.550/.550 114 lsa not sure what valve springs I should run can someone help me out
So I don’t have to get springs that are a .015 higher than what the lift of the cam is ?
As long as you are within the spring manufactures maximum lift rate you are good. I've ran PAC 1218 springs rated for .600" lift with a .595" lift camshaft with no issues.
Thanks guys really appreciate it hopefully I’ll get it all installed my self any tips of trucks on changing the springs with the head off
There are lots of youtube videos showing the procedure it's pretty easy and the basic spring tool is cheap.
My tip is to wear eye protection...
I'd also replace the valve seals while you're in there. The intakes and exhausts are different so don't over look that.
These are my old LQ9 heads that I hand lapped in the valves with valve compound and a valve suction cup. A lot of people use a drill at low speed for faster results instead of the cup.
I just took my heads to get cleaned and asked the machine shop to put all that **** on for me. Cost me like $20 for them to do it and saved me the hassle of removal and putting them on
