Default What are the odds of cam bearings falling in? Again

Back then during a cam swap cam bearing # 3 came out pulling the cam off my LQ4, motor had somewhat low oil pressure so that was tend to happen.
I got it rebuild and made into an 05+ LQ9 w/ LS2 rods as well as all new Clevite bearings (Main, rod, cam, and crank).
When putting it back together the cam was pretty damn hard to put in after it was 50% In. I had to use a rubber mallet to slightly tap it in and an Impact drill to turn it (cause it couldn't be turned by hand) to get it in so it was a tight fit.
Motor now has about 1250 miles and oil pressure is ~65-70psi at idle, no knock and runs perfectly fine. I currently have a 228r cam but want to upgrade for something bigger for my 4200 stall and P&P 243's.
So question is; should I be worried about the cam bearing falling in again when I pull the cam?

when you installed the new cam into the new engine, you used lots of lube right? it shouldn't have taken a mallet to install it, nor an impact to turn it. those two facts would have me scared, but the fact that it's run for a while just fine is encouraging. 65-70psi at idle is WAYYYYYY high though.

To answer your question as to be worried or not, when I work on my truck, I'm ALWAYS worried about just about anything that can go wrong.

When a cam is in it should spin freely. You should be able to grab on that little nub that goes inside the cam gear and easily spin it with that. You should have stopped when it wasnt going smoothly.

We have had a lot of problems with cam bearing install, ended up building ourselves a installation too similar to the BHJ cam bearing tool, pull the bearing in by threads not hammer

lol

bro atleast watch a youtube video on cam installation techniques

A hammer is not a tool commonly used in cam swaps.
