Default What lifters to run

well after having 2 pins that hold the rollers in come loose on my BTR SLR lifters I am not feeling very good about running them anymore.
what brand are you guys running? I will be shifting around the 7000 mark with a pretty aggressive cam.
I have been looking at the moral link bar lifters for $699 but after just buying new heads, cam and headers money is pretty tight but I don't really want to cheap out. are the moral street lifters any good or just step it up to the race series?

thanks, Mitch

I always ran ls7 and never had a problem. Cadillac supposedly has a performance lifter that people prefer over LS7

I use LS7s in 350 builds. That being said the Cadillac lifter mentioned is a CTS-VR Race lifter from the race engine project GM had.

the lifters I am currently running are the Johnson SLR lifters I got from BTR.
I ran LS7 in my L33 and just heard some horror stories from people so that is kind of turning me off from them but of some of you higher HP guys are still running them I would probably be fine.
I have also thought about the CTS-V race lifters.
I am kind of just wanting to put something in that I don't have to worry about and if I want to turn higher RPM then 7000 they will be fine.
thanks for the input guys and hope more people chime in with what they think.

Id wager most ls7 failures are from improper install...people with no clue what their preload is.

I have Lunati/moral Tie bar in my LSX

ive made close to 1100 with LS7 and had them in various builds all over 7000 rpms without failures

Its hard for me to use a BTR product these days with all the failures that are posted and that many try to keep hush hush

Well originally you said BTR SLR Which he did offer and were a similar product. How ever in his own post, He states he discontinued them because they didn't have as tight of tolerance as the True Johnson lifters. Even admitted he had some failures but that he stood behind them even so.

The OEM LS7 lifters tick even in a bone stock factory motor. It annoys me and I have been looking for an alternative. Most builders have been steering me toward the Johnson SLR lifters as an alternative. I have been considering going to a link bar set up to eliminate the plastic trays.

After a lot of reading I am under the impression that the oil that poles up in there my be apart of the issue.

Brian Tooly called me the other day and it ends up I was running the BTR SLR lifters.
even tho I had 2 seasons on them Brian gave me full credit back on the lifters. After talking with him for awhile I think I am gonna order up the Johnson SLR lifters tomorrow.
I wasn't really expecting anything and for him to give all my money back I think that was a very stand up thing to do.
not to often you find a company that would do that
