I have a 2005 gmc sierra with cracked castech heads at the oil drain (lucky me). Looking at this https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=434396 , it looks like to remain stock i want either 862 or 706 heads. Which ones did i have? Whats the difference? I have the flex fuel version of the 5.3.

 

862 and 706 are the same heads

 

I have a set of 706 noncastech heads i will sell you for cheap cause they need to be cleaned up and have valve job done.

 

If you're wanting to upgrade, pick up a set of 243s or 799 castings and have them milled .020 to keep the CR the same as stock, or if you actually want to keep it truly stock, you can pick up 706 castings on ebay all day for next to nothing.
