Default What brand chemical will clean the oil pump screen?

I have lifter tap when my oil level drops half way down the dip stick. As soon as I put 1/4qt of oil in it, the tapping noise goes away. I'm thinking after 160K maybe the oil screen is clogged not allowing pressure to rise the oil to the top end of the block.

yes, just dump it in with the oil and let it run. the ratio of oil to seafoam is on the can. ive also heard of people running transmission fluid to clean out the bottom end.

Odd that the tapping is dependent on the oil level. I don't see the connection. Seafoam is good to use in the oil, about 1/2 can should do it IIRC from the thread on tech, but do a search to be sure! I usually run it for about 100 miles before changing the oil. And then there are some people that think Seafoam is bad for the engine.

forgot the dropping the steering rack of that procedure. my uncle has a shop and says that he removes the pick up tube screens on his trucks. i've never had a problem but his last truck went 300,000 miles and ran like new when he sold it. still on the stock 60e too.

No haha fooook that. Unless the seafoam doesn't work. What do yall think about modern mystery oil?

Yea I used to think the tapping was from the wrong pushrod length after measuring my pre load is around .7sih
