Default What the ? with the 408 don't want more than 5800rpm

Hi guys,

I've done quite a bit of work on my truck recently and I thought i'd get over some existing problems but it doesn't look like it. My main problem now is that the truck doesn't want to go past 5800 rpms and the shift point is beyond that. I really thought the problem was my truck intake and Tb but this weekend I switched to a Typhoon 96mm intake and a LS2 90mm P&P TB and it still reacts like it's hitting the rev limiter so i let it go and it shifts. I've done a not so nice 1.9 60' this weekend and a crappy 14.12 @ 95 mph

Could it be the maf that is maxed out? or what else should I be looking into.

Thanks in advance!

it sounds like your rev limiter is set at 5800, who does your tuning?

Nelson does it. Yeah, a rev limiter set before the shift point how nice! ... I just hope not! It is really frustrating after wrenching that much. also i guess the 1.9 isn't so great but the best so far after my 6.0

i would ask allen about it. personally i would have my own set up to log the motor. efilive or hptuners is the only way to go. It is very very hard to do a mail order tune on a set up like yours.

This is what i'm thinking right now. It slows so much in the mail. I just don't want to mess something up you know.

With the mods in your sig. i think that you really need to think about efilive or hptuners. Problem solved. I just put in my 370 and without efilive i dont think it would be putting down the power that it is now. Everytime i load a tune it gets better and better. Just my .02cents

Tuning is not all that hard when you have good Forums like this.. Alot of knowledgeable people to help you the whole way.

EFI Live or HP Tuners.... your choice.

I'ma agree.
Eventually i'ma buy EFI Live. But without this forum I wouldn't even consider it.
I'm real savy and can figure stuff out like a champ. but there's a lot of info in these tunes that I don't know anything about.
There is already so many threads in the tuning section that cover almost any problem you think you might have. And if not there are plenty of tuners in here that can figure it out.
Gotta love pt.net
