Default Well still debating on the 6.0....

OK well I forsure have a lq4(have had for a few weeks. Been trying what to do. I forsure have a set of STOCK ls6 heads that have been milled .02 just to make sure deck is flat.

Im mostlikely going to get a 3600-4000 converter off of ls1tech(dont plan to be on the 60e that long after install).

Rodbolts
ls6 manifold.
Pretty sure im going with the tv2 or tv3 cam.
231/237 or 232/234, havnt made up my mind yet.
Going to get dual Patroit springs to put in the ls6 heads.

Has anyone ran a comp cam with teh lsx lobes in a truck? i cant find the cam anywhere for sale just read about them. Is it to radical?

They are rougher on the valvetrain when revving 6000+ if using like the patriot duals or the equivilant. The lift is so high that standard dual springs can't keep under control at those speeds, at least thats what comp told me.......you could get some badass springs and run the lsk lobes, but I don't know about longevity of the setup?

If the truck is your only transportation go with a milder cam.224/224 or less, with the LS6 heads you'll be making about 11 to 1 compression so you will need premium gas. With a decent tune you can make over 400rwhp with good reliability. With cast pistons I don't think I go crazy with spray 100 shot or less.

whitt1 why are you saying 100shot or less? many many people are spraying 150's on these motors? And on a lq4 with ls6 heads I will be at 10.5:1 with stock mls gasket.

Im not looking for a tamer cam. The tamest I will go is a 228/234 .588/.588 112 lsa.

The LSK lobes are gonna require super lightweight valves, retainers, and all that to keep the valves under control once you get around .650 lift.

I'm not going to be much help because I have no true results, but I am using LSK lobes with the Patriot spring kit and LS6 heads milled .020''. Runs good but like I said, no results as of yet.

What is the diff in these lobes vs XER? Can I call comp and have any cam grounded with these lobes? Should I go with a little bit less duration and lift say maybe 224/230 with like .590/.590 on maybe a 110-112lsa if I went with lsk lobes?

And rgvsierra at the rate im doin this ls6 manifold will be hte last thing I do

Big difference. Search at Tech. You'll find tons of info.

Yes, or one of our vendors that sell Comp cams.

You can get smaller with a LSK lobe versus a XER @ .050'' when working with the same powerband. The LSK lobes are so much larger @ .200''+ that .050'' can shrink. This is great for street-ability as long as the valve train can support it. So far, mine has. Also, this setup has a lot less valve train noise than the previous 918 springs and cam with only 600'' of lift... believe it or not.
