I know you are new, but before you get flamed on this topic, you might want to search for it, there is more then enough info on camd 5.3s to keep ya busy for a year...

It all depends on what you want to do. You will loose things in one place to have them in another.. You will want a cam with a lower dur so you don't lose low end power. Look into somthing in the 218-220 dur with a 112lsa. Also you could go with a bigger duration cam if you put a converter in there. I would look into long tube hearders also..

x2 we can't tell you whats good and whats bad. Most of the cam'd 5.3 threads out there tell you the difference in cams. It's up to you to decide which one is good for what you want. If you want to tow, and don't want a converter, then you won't want a 224+ duration.
If you don't care about going big stall you might want one. The bigger the duration the more low end you'll lose and will need to make it up with gears.
I think right now there's about 4 or 5 other active 5.3 cam threads running with this same info.

if i was you i'd do CAI, L/T, ORY, Custom Tune, Gears, Shift Kit, Servos THEN a cam If you are still unhappy with the way your truck moves.

i kinda want the same thing you do, but i only have 33s, but more weight. def get rid of the superchips, way too conservative and it will not allow you to tune for new mods, and ditch the TB spacer (does nothing at all). my plan is to do a higher compression setup with a mild cam and a bigger stall. i think i could get some good get up and go out of it that way. Also, nitrous will do just what you want but youre tranny is gonna be weak.

I have the truck in sig. with a 206-212 on a 112 .52x lift in my truck. I have 22s with 33.25" tires and i tow my mud truck with 14" lift and 42" tires a couple times a year and it made a very nice improvement down low with stock converter, but still improved top end too. Alot of people will say thats too small but for my use i can't afford to lose anything down low, with that much weight and wind resistance, i can easily stay in od at 70. Just my .02

Dont bother with the CAI, won´t do anything good on a lsX truck.

The gears that you have in your truck are going to make a big difference. I had 36 on my truck at one time and i had a whipple supercharger. It would spin the tires but with that big of a tire it going to take alot. Trust me. I would put a set of 4.88 gears in the truck first and a LSD. A 10 bolt and a G80 will not like the added stress that the tires bring to the table. Then do a cam and converter. Or look into a supercharger.
