I think that cam is a little on the big side, the XE274 will run better in the mid. I build a 355 combo out of a 96 up factory hyd rr block, that makes 458HP/475lbs with 10:1 CR a Isky 225@.050'', .540'' hyd RR, and ported vortecs. I have ran the next size up 234@.050'' .550'' and made 470HP/450lbs.

Like i said, that was the cam that Comp reccomended, and i made sure to note that it was going in an extended cab silverado. Also, i think that i am going to do a 383, because the machine shop doing my heads is an eagle wholesaler and i can stroke it for cheap. I think that then the cam will be about perfect due to the increased displacement.

I take Comp's recommendations with a grain of salt...if you call 3 different times with the same set up and get 3 different reps on the phone, you'll probably get 3 different recommendations. Since you're talking 383, that cam will be more suited than if it was a 350, but it's still pretty wild and will have a rough idle I believe. I'd really like to hear a video of it if you pull the trigger though

Idk about the converter, im new on them so i would take any knowledge you guys are willing to give! The B&Ms are cheap, and being 17 and in high school, my budget is a little low. I would like a Yank though. What about a re-stalled stock converter?

383 will be alot better but that cam is still on the bigish side. Would be great for a car but I think mid to low 230's would be better for a truck. Comp has a 286-Ah8 thats 236/244, 108lsa I have made good power with it in a 383.

Anybody running a Lunati Voodoo cam? Thats what i was originally thinking about, and i have heard some good things about them. What do you guys think? Nothing is set in stone as i haven't bought the cam yet so i am open to some suggestions!
