Default vortec heads

so i have a question about the vortec heads

im getting my hands on a 350sbc thats bored 40 over it runs its got some 202 heads on it i think. or so i was told i have not ran the casting numbers on them yet. i know this engine runs ive seen it and heard it. and infact it was pulled out a wrecked 79 long bed gmc. it still had the machene shop tag on it from about 6 months earlier of the work been done.

anyway ive got a 480 lift lunati cam i may upgrade into the engine yes ive got the stall convertor for it also. so im wondering if i located some vortec heads off of say like a 97 sbc. how the combination would work with a vortech intake and a 600 cfm holly?

the cam is in a 400sbc thats bored 60 with some old small valve heads casting numbers 3932441. but i dont trust it or the heads to flow well at all.
will prob not see much power after about 4500rpm. but there have been to many peopel messing with the motor. from the rod bearings beeing installed backwards. to someone not knowing what stroke it was on exhaust or intake. and saying its out of time beacuse number one is not tdc. i thought about adding some vortec heads to the 400 but i dunno.

i can get this running 350 for 150$

I have bout the same setup and will let you know how it wrks soon as I find what I want to put it in.It's a 350 .040 with a lunati bracket master 2 cam and vortec heads.I have a buddy that did the vortec head swap on a older corvette and said it was a world of differance.

A 400 will **** all over a 350 if set up right. If you have the Lunati 230/.480'', 109lsa cam it runs pretty good in a vortec headed 400.

i found a set of vortec heads today at a local wrecking yard. wants 145$ per head and they say i must. take them to the machene shop to be magnafluxed and checked for cracks. which is a good deal the price isnt all that bad eaither i dont think.

if you're gonna go with vortecs get these, they're pretty much the best you can get and by the time it's all said and done these won't run you very much more...
